150 years celebration – Festival Evensong

On Sunday, 10 October 2025 it was great to celebrate the 150th anniversary and Re-Dedication of the Abbey Boys and Lay Clerks who first sang here on Sunday, 3 October 1875. The Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Right Reverend Michael Beasley preached and also rededicated and blessed the choir. We were delighted that the Boys and Vicars Choral from Wells Cathedral joined us together with their Director of Music Tim Parsons and their Assistant Director of Music Carolyn Craig and Junior Organ Scholar, Gavin Phelps. As part of these celebrations there was a world premiere of Psalm 98 ‘O sing unto the Lord a new Song’ by Annabel Rooney. Here is a photo commemorating this joyful and memorable occasion.
